FamilySearch Affiliate Library

Weston—Consumer interest in discovering their ancestral roots continues to grow in popularity, and now you may not need to look any further than your local library to make your next exciting family discovery. The Hacker’s Creek Genealogy Library is now a FamilySearch Affiliate Library, which means it has access to more genealogy resources to help you make more family discoveries. FamilySearch is a world leader in family history. The FamilySearch Affiliate Library designation means Hacker’s Creek library patrons will now have greater and more convenient access to the wealth of genealogical resources available through FamilySearch. The popular web service has over 13 billion searchable names and 6 billion viewable images of historical genealogical records—and you get the helpful assistance of knowledgeable, in-person library staff. FamilySearch adds hundreds of millions of free genealogical records and images online yearly from all over the world and manages the famous FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City. It has amassed billions of birth, marriage, death, census, land, and court records from more than 200 countries and territories to help you discover and make family connections. “Libraries are wonderful local gathering places for learning and discovery. We are excited to have Hacker’s Creek Genealogy Library as our newest FamilySearch Affiliate Library. Such valued relationships help FamilySearch enable more individuals to experience inspiring journeys of discovery and make more personal family connections,” said Paul Nauta, FamilySearch Public Relations Manager. FamilySearch International is the largest genealogy organization in the world. They are a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Millions of people use their records, resources, and services to learn more about their family history. FamilySearch and its predecessors have been actively gathering, preserving, and sharing genealogical records worldwide for over 130 years. People access their services and resources free online at FamilySearch.org or through over 6,500 FamilySearch centers in 129 countries, including the main FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.   The library is open Monday—Thursday from 10:00—3:00, Fridays from 10-1 PM, and on the third Saturday from 10-3 PM.   Hacker’s Creek Genealogy Library is a non-profit and depends heavily on volunteers, donations, and fundraisers.  If you would like to become involved or help support the library, please call 304.269.7091.
