The Sycamore’s Seedlings: A Genealogy of Samuel Pringle (HC-7559C)

$21.95

by Jerry Pringle. Samuel Pringle was the first settler near present day Buckhannon, WV. His home was the cavity of a Sycamore tree at the mouth of Turkey Run. This Sycamore, the first truly prefab, was about 11 feet across and on Indian land where white men had never tread. Taking care so Indian hunting parties would not notice his presence, he lived off the land without the benefits settlements or condiments offer. Living about 200 miles from any community, his brother, rifle, and forest animals were his only companions to lessen the loneliness of those isolated years. The tree is a third generation Sycamore; named the “Pringle Tree” it is a historical monument. This book follows Samuel’s descendants as they grow and build their families. The author has advanced degrees in Management and Human Relations. Trained as an investigator and analyst, he has many years of experience putting together cases from information obtained through interview and found in documents. He is an eighth-generation grandson who, after retirement, decided to apply those skills to the genealogy of Samuel Pringle. 289 pages. Softbound and indexed.
