Indian doctor who practiced in Jane Lew and Weston

Dr. Joseph Evans " Indian Doctor"

Mr. Evans practiced medicine/doctoring in the Weston and Jane Lew area in the mid 1800's. He lived in Jane Lew. He was born in Michigan a child of a Spanish and Indian descent. It was noted he was a very good friend of Buffalo Bill. He arrived Lewis county when he was 40 years old. Married a local girl by the name of Elizabeth Evans and they had 7 children. He died in 1918 and is buried in the Friendship Cemetery. We have collected some articles about him, one being he had a cure for blood poisoning, but the cure died with him. Someone had stated that there was a photo of him in the City Building of Jane Lew, at one time.
